Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a treatment used by gently inserting very delicate, sterile needles in specific points on your pet's body for the purpose of therapy, disease prevention, or maintenance of overall health. These needles help stimulate the nervous system, increase circulation, and utilize the body’s physiologic immune chemical signals to change the perception of pain by influencing organ function and natural healing.

Conditions Acupuncture Can Help With

Veterinary acupuncture may benefit pets experiencing:

• Arthritis and joint discomfort

• Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)

• Nerve injuries or mobility challenges

• Chronic pain or inflammation

• Skin conditions such as lick granulomas and allergic dermatitis

Every pet responds differently, and treatment plans are individualized and tailored based on their specific needs.

What to Expect

Acupuncture sessions are typically relaxing and well-tolerated by pets. Needle insertion is not usually painful; however, there are certain points that may be more sensitive than others. Many animals become calm or even sleepy during treatment. Sessions are gentle, minimally invasive, and designed to support your pet’s comfort and recovery. For those pets that get stressed at the vet, our team can discuss strategies to help your pet.

Treatment duration varies between patients, but most will need to come weekly for several weeks before tapering down for maintenance or discontinuing.
